Intro Level Issues, anyone???
Oct 30 2008, 3:10 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 30 2008, 3:10 PM EDT
I get to the end where the narrator talks about moving the arms and emotions where I can only see half of the in game tv screen. Then the "curtain" falls and I see "Little Big Plane" and cannot proceed to the right. Is there something I'm missing to proceed out of this "level"????? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

just loaded the game up for the first time and the EXACT same thing is happening to me. Restarted the level like 10 times, no change. Restarted the game, no change. If I cant get past this sticking point what the hell is the point of having the game? I am returning it. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I took mine back to best buy and picked up another copy. That one worked just fine. Now if I could get the opposite to happen next time I play the lottery..... Do you find this valuable?

Wow... I never heard of this kind of problem before, if it was the whole disc then it must have been serious.
You guys are actually lucky to be able to take your games back to the store.
Here in my country the only place you can get ps3 games for a decent price ( 62-65$ ) are nameless stores owned by people who managed to get the games imported, with hardly any warranty and if something goes wrong you have to argue with them to prove you are not lying XD. "Real" stores here sell ps3 games for 90$ or more. Those have no problems with returns... but its a lot of extra money, I constantly fear the day something happens to my ps3 since it came from the states in a plane (i would have had to pay like 1000$ for one in these "Real" stores here)

Money sucks... when you dont have it...

"where do you live?It sounds horrible"
Lol, dont take it so seriously.
Im from Peru (southamerica), its not that horrible, everyone who is a gamer is used to that here. Most people I know dont complain since they own ps2s or Wiis. And piracy is a strong problem here, but since these 2 use dvds (same goes for the 360 but this one is not that popular yet..being next gen and not wii) it is really easy to buy a copied game for 2$ or less, so if one doesnt work, theres no problem just buy another as if it was morning breakfast. But theres no such "luck" for ps3 owners since there are 0 illegal blu rays in the market so far.

I'm just saying me and my pocket have been lucky so far.
Sony recently made psp and ps3 sales official here, that means no more personally imported stuff in big stores, although i dont think they will drop prices down to us level, 80gb PS3 are like 800$ in those stores nowadays, psps are like 300$.
Then again i buy my games for 62$ so its not a big deal.... unless one of them stops working... that would suck...

That's because the common misnomer is that Americans are only loud and demanding when visiting other countries. This is not true, we are that way at home too (we truley don't discriminate). Our stores have learned that, some the hard way, just ask Circuit City......The key is getting enough consumers to not take any $hit and the stores will change, eventually...unless of course you're not in a capitalist society, then you probably have more concerns anyway Do you find this valuable?

I am in a capitalist country (and thankful for that)
Im not saying anything against complaining, people complain here a lot when stuff doesnt work, but they always prefer to buy piracy (since its cheaper.. a lot) mod chips for ps2s and wiis are quite popular herem the same goes for cracked psps and ds with r4s and mem cards. Piracy control is almost non existent. I suppose that from another point of view the stores are forced to use those prices, since people who usually wouldnt pay them, rather do what i do and buy from little import shops or just say "to hell with buying overpriced original stuff" and mod their consoles. The people buying from this big stores usually have a lot of money and know nothing about real prices overseas (or dont care about that) and dont mind paying a lot.

This is going extremely offtopic guys ... The day my ps3 dies (my ps2 never did so i have faith on his little brother) or i have to kill a store owner to get a working game ill mention this again.

SOLUTION!

Ok guys, I persevered and found what was going on - I am posting this to hopefully help someone else who has this problem because I found nothing whatsoever on the net to help me.

I watched a video of the intro level on youtube, and I noticed something - there was only one sackboy (player 1). Even though I had no other controllers turned on, mine was always dropping TWO sackboys onto the intro level. The reason why I couldn't get the whole screen for the last video to show up and therefore not trigger the end of the level was because the player 2 sackboy was too far behind me and the level would not scroll.

Why did it spawn two sackboys in the first place? My theory is this: I have a USB hub plugged into my PS3 which feeds my Guitar Hero world tour instruments (2x guitar, drums, mic). Even though NONE of these instruments were turned on, when I took the hub out the second player sackboy disappeared.

If you don't have the exact circumstances but get the second sackboy showing up, do the following: turn on your second controller, reassign it to player 2, then turn it off. This should see the second sackboy disappear also.

I hope this helps somebody out there who had the same problem, it made for a terrible first impression of the game, but now I am past that I am loving it :)

On the contrary, I think our little thread here is in the spirit of Little Big Planet, and that is to get everyone together, talking and relating. I now know more about the Peruvian gaming economy than I did when I woke up. It never really crosses your mind about difficulties getting things since we can take their availability for granted. Long live your PS3. Do you find this valuable?

This was probably the same solution for me. I bought GWT first and probably left the controller ports hooked up and dropped in my copy of LBP. It didn't work so I took it back, but before I could put in the new copy, I returned my first of 2 sets of GWT kits (not rubbing it in Mr. Peru, sorry) due to the red drum and broken yellow cymbal (note to GWT'ers do not change the position of the cymbals b/c they are not designed to be hit repeatedly near the points). In between repackaging the GWT kits is when I probably restarted playing the game and had no further issues. It could still be an issue, but since I've started playing Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and COD5 I've been taking out the controller ports after every GWT session. Do you find this valuable?

I'm afraid I am having this problem aswell, but I only have one controller enabled, I don't have a remote, no Guitar Hero. And yet I still get the extra sackboy in the introduction level. If I turn on a 2nd controller, another sackboy drops, which means that 1 of the 3 sackboys still can't be controlled. I tried 'reinstalling the game', but it still drops the 'afk' sackboy. I don't have anything plugged in the USB either. I hope you can help me out. :) Do you find this valuable?

Reading this, it seems to depend on installing Linux on your PS3. Bear in mind the 'Install Other OS' option has now been removed from the XMB on the newer generation PS3s, so this may be tricky at best.
Anyway, anything that touches on piracy and playing copies is very naughty - come to my room for a spanking!
